Give the Gift of Giving This Christmas

Christmas is a time for giving and sharing with the ones we love. It is also a time to consider those in need who may not be able to share Christmas with loved ones or who do not get to experience all the joy that Christmas can bring. You can bring Hope to families this year by donating a gift to the Salvation Army Giving Tree.

Just over three million people are living below the poverty line across Australia with about 132,000 people from South Australia including 22,350 children.[i] Every year the Central Market Arcade, in collaboration with The Salvation Army, set up the giving tree in the arcade to collect donations to give to those who go without.

This will be the 16th year that the tree has been in operation, starting in 2003. Thanks to your kind donations, the Tree is a huge success making it one of the largest in South Australia. Last year the Tree received a record breaking 1,500 gifts! This included a large donation from a local school where the students even made their own wrapping paper for the gifts.

All types of donations are accepted and are greatly appreciated. Anything from toys to clothing to books, suitable for a wide variety of ages. It’s not just for children either, donations for teenagers are also in great need and are often the least donated.

You can find the Salvo’s Giving Tree in the centre intersection of the Central Market Arcade near Coles and can make your donation from now right up until Christmas.
